The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has asked the public to dismiss false publications claiming that the INTERPOL Red Notice on accused person Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta has been lifted.‎

‎In a statement issued on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, the OSP explained that the case is still under review by the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files, the body responsible for handling requests related to INTERPOL notices.‎

‎According to the OSP, Mr. Ofori-Atta applied in October 2025 for his name to be removed from the Red Notice. INTERPOL then invited Ghana to respond, and the country submitted its official position on 22 October 2025.

‎On 7th November 2025, INTERPOL informed Ghana that the accused had filed additional arguments supporting his request. Ghana has been asked to submit a further response by 21st November 2025.‎

‎The OSP stressed that while the case is ongoing, INTERPOL often hides or redacts the applicant’s name, photo, and personal details from public view until a final decision is made. This, the office explained, is standard procedure and does not mean the notice has been cancelled.‎

‎The statement urged the public to disregard any claims suggesting otherwise, describing such reports as “mischief and misinformation.”
