Over 7,000 personnel trained for effective disinfection of schools

More than 7,000 spraying gangs from the Pests and Vector Control Association of Ghana have been trained at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research to ensure effective disinfection of 31,450 Basic, Junior and Senior High schools, as well as all universities in the country ahead of the reopening of schools.

The disinfection exercise will be done with chemicals approved by the WHO as safe for use in open and enclosed spaces.

At a media briefing on COVID-19 Update and exhibition of state-of-the-art disinfectant equipment in Accra, the Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs. Victoria Opoku Anti said the waste management company is ready with the necessary logistics and personnel to start the exercise.

She called for cooperation from heads of schools and stakeholders to ensure the exercise is successfully completed by January 14.

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah, who inspected the spraying equipment, advised the public to continue observing the COVID-19 safety protocols to eradicate the Coronavirus from the country.
