Overlord of Dagbon supports Aboabo Fire Victims

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari Mahama, has sent a delegation to commiserate with victims whose shops were burnt at Aboabo market in Tamale on January 28, 2022.

The delegation comprised Chiefs from the Dagbon Traditional Area. They visited the scene to have firsthand information on the extent of damage caused.

Spokesperson for Ya-Naa, Jakob Yakubu Mahama, expressed concern about the unfortunate incident and called on appropriate authorities to put measures in place to avert future fires.

 

 

Joyce Kantam Kolamong reports that about ten shops at the Aboabo market in Tamale were gutted in flames.

The traders had their food stuff and other valuables worth thousands of cedis destroyed.

Some shop owners have since blamed the situation on intermittent power fluctuations.The fire prompted the Overload of Dagbon to send a delegation to the scene. Spokesperson for Yaa-Naa, Jakob Yakubu Mahama, said the King is saddened by the development.

He said a reduction in the wealth of the people is a reduction in the wealth of the country. He called for effective collaboration between the Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Water Company.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Tamale, Sule Salifu, has instructed the demolition of all unauthorized structures at the Aboabo market to make it easily accessible in the event of a disaster.

Sule Salifu said the Assembly will do all within its power to support the victims to continue their business.
