A Morning Show host of Connect FM, in Takoradi, Paa Kwesi Simpson is out on bail following a successful application at High Court Monday, November 8, 2021. He had initially been remanded for two weeks on charges of spreading a hoax but is now out on the bail condition of GH₵ 50,000 with two sureties, one being a resident of Sekondi Takoradi.
He is also to report to the Police once a week to help in their investigations.
GBC’s Western Regional Correspondent Marie Aziz Tunde reports that Simpson had pleaded not guilty to charges of publication of false news with the intent of causing fear and alarm to the public contrary to the Public Order Act, and false publication of news through an electronic device contrary to the Electronic Communications Act, 775 of 2008.
He was charged after a caller to his Morning Show on Connect FM claimed his girlfriend had been kidnapped.
His Lawyer, Kobina Ebo Donkor said he was confident that his client is innocent.
Paa Kwesi Simpson is to reappear in court on the 16th of November, 2021.
