The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament is unhappy that the Ghana Water Company Limited has failed to recover debts since 2010.
Chairman of the Committee, James Klutse Avedzi and Ranking Member, Kofi Okyere Agyekum, both expressed disappointment at the failure of the GWCL to carry out recommendations by the Auditor-General to get Parliamentary approval for the debts to be written off in the books.
Mr. Avedzi urged the Director of Finance of Ghana Water, James Abbey, who was responding to the questions, to take urgent steps to get the issues resolved.
The Ghana Water Company Limited however made some strides in previous years and Mr. Avedzi enquired if it’s a continuous trend or things have changed. In his response the Director of finance said the losses are affecting the company.
