Parliament has been recalled from recess to consider urgent parliamentary business.
A statement from the Office of the Speaker says Members of Parliament are expected to return to the House on Monday, August 24, 2026, at noon and sit through Friday, August 28, 2026.
The recall was directed by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in exercise of powers conferred on him under Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of Parliament.
The statement, dated Wednesday, August 12, 2026, does not specify the nature of the urgent parliamentary business for which the House has been recalled.
Parliament adjourned sine die on Friday, July 31, 2026, bringing the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament to a close after 37 sittings.
The five-day recall will require MPs to reconvene at Parliament House in Accra to consider matters deemed urgent and requiring the attention of the House.
The specific agenda for the sitting is expected to be communicated by Parliament ahead of the resumption.
The recall means Parliament will resume proceedings less than a month after going on recess, with MPs expected to return to the Chamber on August 24 for the five-day sitting.
