Pass Ageing Bill into law – CHRAJ to gov’t

Joseph Whittal.

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has called on government to speed up processes of completing stakeholder consultations on the National Ageing Bill laid before Parliament.

While congratulating older persons on the occasion of International Day of the Aged, CHRAJ also charged the State to do more to uphold the rights of older persons within the meaning of the National Ageing Policy (NAP), the constitution and international instruments.

In a statement, the commissioner of CHRAJ, Joseph Whittle reiterated the need for older persons to be given special health care especially by nurses.

He said the impact of COVID-19 on the aged calls for deliberate healthcare policy and service delivery interventions to minimize the effects of this and future pandemics.
