The Board of Penplusbytes has announced the appointment of its current Director of Strategy, Juliet Adime Amoah as the new Executive Director effective 1st January 2019.

Juliet Amoah takes over from Kwami Ahiabenu II, the Founder and Executive Director as he steps down at the end of the year 2018.

Penplusbytes is a not-for-profit organization driving change through innovations in three key areas: using new digital technologies to enable good governance and accountability, new media and innovations, and driving oversight for effective utilisation of mining, oil and gas revenue and resources.

Ms. Amoah has nearly 20 years of experience in running multinational organisations, entrepreneurship development, and training and communication initiatives.

She held senior positions as a Deputy Director, British Council, Accra, and Business Development Manager, Africa Parliamentary Centre. She holds Masters Degrees in Social Policy Studies from University of Ghana; New Media, Governance and Democracy from University of Leicester; and Executive Master of Governance and Leadership (EMGL) from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.

These were in a statement issued and copied to gbcghanaonline in Accra, Wenesday, December 19, 2018.

The statement said, Mr. Ahiabenu will remain closely involved with the organisation as well as taking a place on the Board. “It has been a fantastic 18 years” he said, “And none of us could have predicted how well the organisation has developed from a standing start back in 2001. I’m very proud of the achievements and awards we have received, but I just feel it is time to let someone else define the next chapter in the organisation’s development, and for me to explore some new avenues”.
Ms. Amoah, the statement continued, in her acceptance, said:, “This is undoubtedly a great responsibility and I am grateful for the opportunity to be contributing to the promotion of effective governance using new digital technologies which is the Penplusbytes forté. I look forward to driving the development and growth of the organisation and intend to devote significant time and effort to pursuing cross-border opportunities in order to strengthen our global footprint.”
Chair of Penplusbytes Board of Directors, Byan Pearson said “Kwami informed us of his intention about a year ago. He has been the monumental inspiration behind the organisation and we of course wish him every success for the future. But we are very excited to have Juliet on board and her expertise and track record will be invaluable in steering Penplusbytes confidently into the future. With Kwami remaining closely involved as well as being on the Board, the transition should be seamless and successful.”
Board Vice-Chair, Charity Binka, added that, “It has been a privilege to watch Penplusbytes grow under the inspirational leadership of Kwami. We cannot thank him enough. But Juliet is supremely qualified to move the agenda forward, and having the support of Kwami behind her, we are entirely confident of Penplusbytes continued growth and achievement.”
