We do not have control over factors causing price hikes in petroleum- NPA

Nigeria fuel subsidy: Tinubu's plan to scrap measure sparks rush to stock up

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), says it does not have control over crude prices on the world market. Therefore, if crude prices go up on the International Market, the prices automatically reflect on the local pricing index.

The Head of Economic Regulation at the NPA, Abass Ibrahim Tasunti, said the NPA is not immune to criticisms by petroleum consumers about the rise of fuel prices on the local market.

He said, “the NPA has to work in tandem with the prices on the international market, the reason for the regular increases.”

He spoke on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, “Talking Point”.
