Police Apartment fire: Families relocated to Krapa; psychologists counsel bereaved families

Following the Directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare, residents of the Police Barracks at Apromase in the Ejisu Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region have been evacuated to a temporary residential facility at Krapa also in the Municipality for safety.

The directive follows a visit by the IGP to the scene of a fire outbreak at Apromase which claimed the lives of three persons including a 36-year-old Police Officer, with the Anti-robbery Squad Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Sergeant Barfi Asante Owusu.

The fire also claimed the wife of the Police Officer, Millicent Abena Achiaa and their four months baby boy, Samuel Kwabena Barfi Nyamedo.

The five apartments on the top floor of the building affected by the fire were destroyed.

According to our Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Akosua Frema Frempong, a team of Psychologists have begun taking the bereaved families through professional counseling over the trauma suffered from the incident.
