Police apologize to Journalists attacked & prevented from covering case of Rev. Owusu Bempah

The Police have apologized to the media following reports that some journalists were on September 13, 2021, prevented from entering the courtroom during the trial of the Head Pastor of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah and 3 others.

Some journalists were also reported to have been attacked and prevented from working at the court premises by some persons believed to be church members and supporters of the accused persons.

A statement signed by the Acting Director General of the Police Public Affairs Directorate, ACP Kwesi Ofori said a team is currently studying the footage of the alleged assault on some of the journalists to identify the perpetrators for immediate prosecution.

The statement gave the assurance that journalists will be fully protected and allowed to do their work at all times including the subsequent coverage of Rev. Owusu Bempah case, as well as continue to do everything possible to deepen the cordial relationship the Police and the Media.
