A 16-year-old girl and her 40-year-old father, Kwabena Quaye, are in critical condition after four herdsmen allegedly raped the girl and shot the father at Gomoa Adzintem in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The herdsmen have been destroying farm crops of residents and terrorising them. Deputy Central Regional Police PRO, Inspector Evans Ettie said Mr. Quaye and his daughter were rushed to Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic for treatment.
He said the Police proceeded to the crime scene where they found three ‘BB’ empty cartridges, but the suspects had escaped.
Meanwhile, Police in the Central Region have arrested the 4 herdsmen in connection with the alleged defilement of a 16-year-old girl at Gomoa Adzintem in the Central Region.
They were arrested in a Special Police Operation carried out by the Formed Police Unit together with personnel from the Central East Regional Command yesterday.
In a statement, they said some weapons including 2 single barrel and 2 pump action guns and 49 AA ammunition were also retrieved in the operation.
The statement said an identification parade will be conducted in the community to identify the real suspects in the dastardly act on the teenager to face justice.
