The Police have arrested a woman believed to be in her forty’s for allegedly stealing a four-year-old girl at the Tamale Teaching hospital Monday.

She committed the act when the child’s mother left her in the care of another woman to visit the washroom.

The PRO of the hospital, Mohammed Misbaw, told GBC News in Tamale that 10, 000 cedis was found on the suspect, after she was searched by the hospital staff. She confessed the amount was paid to her for the baby.

A video sighted by GBC News showed a woman confessing to some staff of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) that she was paid to come and steal a child at the hospital.

A search conducted by the vigilant staff of the facility on the suspect revealed that she was carrying an amount of 10, 000 cedis which she claimed was the money given to her for the service.

The incident occurred between the Accident and Emergency Unit and the Medical Block of the hospital.

The suspect has since been handed over to the police for further investigations.

Mr. Misbaw said the hospital provides maximum security to patients under its care. He said they have begun introducing holistic care for patients to ensure security and called on visitors to be vigilant.
