Police in Buipe have arrested two suspected kidnappers aged 20 and 23.

According to a police situational report, the two have confessed to kidnapping a young man near Yapei in April and taking a ransom of ten thousand Ghana cedis from the victim’s father.

The report says, the two suspects mentioned four other accomplices who are on the run.

The two suspects have been placed in police custody for further investigations.

The police have also mounted a manhunt for the four accomplices who are on the run.

Kidnapping has become a night for herder communities in the Central Gonja, West Gonja and Bole districts of the Northern region with reports of at least seven kidnappings in the last two months.

So far, police have arrested a number of suspects who are currently standing trial in connection with various kidnappings.

Last month, four suspected kidnappers were shot to death by a local search party who were detailed to look for a four year old kidnapped boy.
