Police beefs up security in Kumasi ahead of Christmas

The Ghana Police Service has beefed up security in the Ashanti  region as it deploys personnel to maintain law and order before, during and after the Christmas festive period.

The Regional Police Command, DCOP, Kwesi Ampofo Duku addressing the media says the administration has taken steps to strengthen security in the region ahead of the Christmas festivities.

The  Regional Police Commander,  DCOP Duku Ampofo said officers and men from various division have being deployed to ensure strong presence on the streets to prevent miscreants from having their way.

They are from the Special Weapon and Tactics, SWAT Rapid Deployment Force, Anti-Armed Robbery Unit and other divisions.

He reminded the officers and men to ensure a high level of professionalism and warned that any act of misconduct would not be accepted.

He advised them to be civil in their dealings with the public and to respect the human rights of arrested suspects – they should not be manhandled.

DCOP Ampofo Duku called for the people to show a good understanding and to cooperate with the police to make society safe for everybody.

He urged the public to assist the personnel to flash up suspected criminals by providing credible information to track down miscreants.

The officers and men later went through the streets in what they called “Operation show of force,” to assure the public of their readiness.
