Northern police command probes attempted human trafficking

The Northern regional police command says it is investigating suspected cases of human trafficking in the region and has warned that, it will be ruthless in its quest to make the region safe and secure.

Addressing the media in Tamale on Sunday, the Regional Crime Officer Superintendent Otuo Acheampong disclosed that, the command has eleven suspected prostitutes in its custody.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that, some of the women are victims of human trafficking, and that the police is probing further to identify the pepetrators and bring them to book.

Superintendent Acheampong, reiterated the commitment of the police to fighting crime and criminals to bring normalcy to the region

The Northern region, particularly the capital Tamale, has been in the spotlight in recent times, due to the increasing spate of murders, armed robbery, carjackings and drug peddling.

The Regional Security Council has since launched an operation to clamp down on crime and secure the safety of residents
