A policeman named only as Ben has been shot to death in the Ashanti region. That’s according to reports reaching Radio Ghana.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 5.30 pm on Monday, August 19, at Manso Abodom in the Amansie West district by yet-to-identified assailants.

The deceased policeman was said to have met his untimely death while providing escort services to some miners who were returning from their day’s business at Manso Dome and heading towards Tontokrom.

The Asante Bekwai Divisional Police have launched investigations into the incident to unravel the circumstances and the perpetrators involved.

The Amansie West diitrict, which has now been demarcated into West and South, has gained notoreighty in recent years for such crimes mostly perpetrated by suspected armed robbers who take undue advantage of the bad roads and mining activities there to attack commuters and other visitors.

It was also in that district where seven youth from Asawase were killed by the police last year.
