Police Officer shot dead by armed robbers at Mankessim

A Lance Corporal Kingsley Boahen has been gunned down at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Region by armed robbers.

The incident occurred on the Mankessim-Assin Fosu road at the Zen filling station around 4am Wednesday January 22.

Confirming the news to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Central Regional police PRO, ASP Irene Oppong said there was a robbery at one filling station called ZEN in the area so the Mankessim Patrol Team went there and during an exchange of gun shots the officer was gunned down by the armed robbers three others were also injured.

The Police officer was said to be in his house attire and was not part of the operational team. The body has been sent to the Cape Coast Mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, GBC’s Correspondent Kingsley Nana Boadu says the IGP is in Mankessim to find out for himself what really happened.
