The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Cecilia Dapaah, has assured the people of the Volta Region especially, those in deprived communities that they will be connected to potable water on completion of major water projects in the region.

There are 2 major ongoing water projects in the region with the aim of increasing water supply to deprived communities. They are phase 3 of the ” 5 districts water project” by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency and the Keta Water Supply Systems Rehabilitation and Expansion project by the Ghana Water Company Limited.

Madam Dapaah, who inspected the project sites, said the government has made progress in its “Water for All “policy within the past 5 years, in a bid to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 6.

Speaking to Journalists after touring the Keta Water Supply System Rehabilitation and Expansion project at Agordorme in the South Tongu District, the Minister expressed satisfaction with progress of work so far.

The Keta Water Supply System Rehabilitation and Expansion project, expected to be completed in 2023, will produce about 1.6 million gallons daily to more than 422 thousand residents in South Tongu and Anlo Districts and Keta Municipality.

Madam Cecilia Dapaah and her entourage earlier visited the Volta Integrated Waste Treatment Facility at Akrofu in the Ho Municipality which is about 65 % complete.

Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, Joseph Siaw Agyepong was optimistic that the project would be completed on schedule, which is, by the close of this year, to allow for actual operations to begin.
