Independent Power Producers (IPP) in Ghana have threatened to shut down if Power Distribution Services (PDS), fails to clear the debt it owes them.

The debt, according to the producers, is seven hundred million dollars.

Though Energy Expert, Kwadwo Poku, acknowledged the frustration the IPPs are going through, he blames them for being part of the problem.

He urged the Ministry of Finance to ensure the matter is resolved amicably.

Mr.  Poku said the IPPs could be penalised if they carry out their threat of cutting power by shutting down their plants.
