Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare has denied claims that Ghana’s covid-19 death figures are being generated.

According to him, the Presidency does not manipulate any figures.

His remark follows worries that some numbers are being suppressed or massaged over COVID-19 related deaths in the country.

“At the policy level, we all get the figures as you are getting this morning. So we don’t generate any figures from the policy level. The presidential taskforce and that matter the Presidency doesn’t generate any figures,” he said at a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, June 16.

“The presidency doesn’t generate any figures. We see the figures as you have seen here today. We then use the figures to plan and monitor whatever is going on.”

“There is an implementing agency. So this covid-19 fight is led by the Ghana Health Service, the Teaching Hospitals and the Ministry of Health is the Policy level who is also organizing them and we have a Presidential taskforce.”

“We don’t manipulate any figures at the presidential task force level. We don’t generate any figures.”
