President Akufo-Addo, 10 others for AfCFTA awards

President Akufo-Addo and ten other African Heads of State and Governments will receive awards for their role in the coming into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina will also be honoured for his role in that respect. The awards ceremony will take place today at the AU.

The other heads of state to receive awards include, President of DR Congo and incoming Chairperson of the African Union, Felix Tshekedi, President of Egypt and former Chairperson of the African Union, Ahmed Fattah Al-Sisi, King Mswatiwho is the Host of the AeTrade Group Regional Headquarters for Southern Africa and Prime Minister of EthiopiaAbiy Ahmed.

The rest are President of Guinea and host of the AcTrade Regional Headquarters for West Africa, Professor Alpha Conde, President of Niger and leader and Champion of the AfCTA process, Mahamadou Issoufou, President of Nigeria, MahamadouBuhari, Paul Kagame who is President of Rwanda and President of South Africa and Chairperson of the African Union, Cyril Ramaphosa.

The award organizers, a number of African private sector organisations in partnership with the African Union Commission, will also honour two former heads of state—former Prime Minister of Ethiopia and Patron, AcTrade Group, HailemariamDesalegn; and former President of Nigeria and PatronAfroChampions, Olusegun Obasanjo and some heads of African institutions and other prominent individuals will be rewarded for their ‘exceptional contribution to the AFCFTA process.
