President Akufo-Addo has rendered an unqualified apology to the people of Cape Coast for recent comments on building of a harbour in the Metropolis.

During his tour of the Central Region, the President stated on a local Radio Station that his government has not promised to build a harbour in the Region contrary to what the party had stated in its Manifesto.

Speaking on Peace FM, a Private Radio Station on Day One of his Greater Accra Regional tour, the President admitted it was a mistake on his part.

“In looking at my Presidential decree before, I saw one person talk about the landings and I didn’t go further to see. And even with the mistakes, I still think we have to fix a lot of things……. Let’s say Takoradi, Elmina, and we have another one projected for Cape Coast before we move firmly down. I think some rethinking has to go on for us to find out what is the value for money and to recycle. I want to apologize to the people of Cape Coast and in the Central Region for that mistake’’.

President Akufo-Addo also described as false, allegations by the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, that his government had abandoned projects started by his predecessor.

He said his government continued and completed some projects started by the previous government.

“The reality, the facts on the ground tell you a completely different story. Let’s take Komenda for example, you can’t build a house by starting from the roof and that is exactly what is happening to the factory’’, he stated.

President Akufo-Addo said the fundamental issue which has dogged the Komenda Sugar Factory is the absence of a plan for supply of raw materials for its operations and subsequent shut-down blaming the NDC’s John Mahama for poor vision.

He queried why the erstwhile Mahama Administration failed to secure the needed funds to run the factory.
