President Akufo-Addo charges African leaders to break infertility stigma on women

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on African leaders to break the stigma of infertility placed on women.

Statistics show that women cannot be wholly blamed for infertility as 50 precent of men are infertile.

This is contrary to the perception in most African countries where women are entirely responsible for childbirth to the extent that some are battered, maltreated and stigmatized against.

Delivering the keynote address at the Merck Foundation Africa Asia luminary which is being hosted by Ghana, President Akufo-Addo asked African leaders to incorporate issues of infertility in their maternal and reproductive health care policies and take steps to make IVF treatment cheap for women.
