President Akufo-Addo has described as unacceptable the drop in the rate of compliance with the wearing of nose masks in the country.
A recent survey by the Ghana Health Service concluded that the overall intention to use face masks in Accra was very high, with 82 percent of persons surveyed having a mask.
The same survey demonstrated that only 44 percent of those who have the mask use them correctly.
But in its latest survey, the Ghana Health Service said the compliance level has dropped drastically. The new survey indicates that some residents in regions with no active cases have abandoned the protocols put in place to defeat the virus.
In a televised broadcast to the Nation, Sunday August 30, President Akufo-Addo said the enhanced hygiene protocols are the new normal and must be observed. He said continuous disregard for the protocols will attract severe sanctions.
