President Akufo-Addo cuts sod for construction of 12 storey maternity and gynaecological centre at Korle Bu

The President, Nana-Addo-Dankwa-Akufo-Addo, has cut the sod for the construction of a 12 storey 400-bed ultra-modern maternity and Gynaecological centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital at a cost of €144 million.

The President also cut the sod for the construction of a 100-bed Nephrology and Kidney transplant centre at the same facility at a cost of €38 million.

Once completed, the complex will have 18 treatment rooms, 24 consulting rooms, Seven theatres, IVF services, and an emergency room among others.

It will be the first Centre to deliver IVF in Ghana.

President Akufo-Addo said the construction is in fulfillment of a pledge made to Korle-Bu some years ago.

The two-storey Nephrology and Kidney transplant centre will have 31 dialysis centre and the capacity to conduct research into urology cases.

President Akufo-Addo tasked the contractors to complete the project on schedule.
