President Akufo-Addo extends mandatory wearing of face masks by another 3 months

President Akufo-Addo has extended the executive instrument (E.I. 164), the mandatory wearing of face masks by another three (3) months.

This decision, according to the President in his 17th address to the nation, is to maintain the gradual reduction that has been observed in the number of active Covid-19 cases.

“On Monday, 14th September, I extended, by Executive Instrument, the mandatory wearing of face masks by another three (3) months. So, until 14th December 2020, the wearing of masks remains mandatory.”

He said the law enforcement agencies will enforce the mandatory wearing of masks in line with the Executive Instrument passed by Parliament.

“The law enforcement agencies will be required to ensure this directive is respected by all.”

The President also asked Ghanaians to adhere to safety protocols to help defeat the pandemic.

“It has served us well in the fight against COVID-19, so I urge each and every one of us to wear our masks, and do so correctly anytime we leave our homes. It is the new normal requirement of our daily existence until the virus disappears,” he added on Sunday, September 20, 2020.

Ghana’s COVID-19 active cases currently stand at 507, with 45,258 recoveries and 297 deaths.
