President joins Catholics in Wa in Thanksgiving service

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday joined the Catholic faithful at the St Andrew’s Cathedral in Wa for a thanksgiving service.

In 2016, during the electioneering he was at the church for prayers and deemed it appropriately to return to thank the Lord and the congregation that helped him to win the election.

The population of the church was more than the usual church service as many of the people took advantage to catch a glimpse of the President.

The Catholic Bishop of Wa Most Reverend Richard Kuuia Baawobr in a homely stressed the need for the citizenry to work in unity to ensure that no one is left behind. He prayed to the Lord to strengthen President Akufo-Addo and his government to work in the interest of the nation. 

President Akufo-Addo said he wants the people of Ghana to hold him closely in respect of the promises he made prior to the 2016 campaign. He expressed the hope that come 2020, he will deliver on his pledges.

The President presented 10 thousand Ghana Cedis to the church saying it is his modest contribution. He also pledged to personally donate 50 thousand Ghana Cedis to the Assembly Hall project of the church.
