President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning following the passing of former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.

A statement issued by the Presidency and signed by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, sais the period of mourning begins today, Friday, October 24, and ends on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

During this time, all national flags will be flown at half-mast across public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government institutions both within Ghana and abroad.

The declaration, according to the statement, is in honour of the late Mrs. Agyeman Rawlings’ remarkable service to the nation and her lifelong dedication to advancing women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.

“The Government extends its deepest condolences to the family, her children, and all who mourn this irreplaceable loss,” the statement read.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who served as Ghana’s First Lady during the tenure of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was widely recognized for her advocacy for women’s rights and her instrumental role in establishing the 31st December Women’s Movement.

“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
