Pull-Out after 33 years for DCFO Richard Gibril Nuhu in Accra

A Pull-out ceremony has been held for the Greater Accra Regional Commander DCFO Richard Gibril Nuhu at the Regional Command at Korle- Bu in Accra.

DCFO Richard Gibril Nuhu obtained his middle school leaving certificate at the Swedru Anglican Middle School. He proceeded to Apam Secondary school where he obtained his GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ level certificates. In 2001, he was awarded a certificate in Administration and Management at GIMPA.

From 2007 to 2011, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology at the University of Cape Coast. He was later awarded a Master of Arts Degree in Human Resource Development at the University of Cape Coast from 2013 to 2014.

He was enlisted into the Ghana National Fire Service after successfully completing the mandatory training course at the Fire Academy and Training School (FATS) in December 1989 as a Sub Officer. DCFO Alhaji Richard Gibril Nuhu after serving for twenty years, he was admitted to the FATS for the intake V cadet corps course.

In 1995, he was a member and secretary of the Justice and security committee at the Cape Coast Municipal Assembly. From 1992-1994, he was the 2IC watch leader. He also served as the Municipal Administrative Officer in the Central Region, while in the Region, DCFO served as the Regional Welfare Chairman, Deputy Regional Administrative Officer, and District Fire Commander.

In 2015, he was transferred to the Volta Region, where he served as the Municipal Fire Commander as well as the Regional Operations Officer. From 2019 to 2001 he served as the Regional Fire Commander in the Oti Region.

From 2021 to 2023 he served as the Greater Accra Regional Command at Korle Bu.

DCFO Gibril Nuhu was a Pioneer Regional Commander to establish operational, personnel and structural Command of GNFS in the Oti Region.

While in active service, he was the Team Leader and the only African Fire Officer among twelve participants who attended Fire prevention Techniques and Administration course in Japan in 2004. He also established a close collaboration with some Tertiary Institutions in the Volta Region, leading to the submission of proposals for mounting and possible adoption by the Ho Technical University to run programs of study in Basic Fire safety. DCFO Gibril Nuhu ensured structural transformation at the Regional Headquarters, Accra.

In Accra, he was one of the winners of the coveted Fire Safety Ambassador Award 2022 from OSHA, UK as a result of Vibrant Fire Safety Interventions he activated among other achievements.

At the Pull-Out ceremony at the Greater Accra Regional Command, the Accra Mayor, Madam Elizabeth Sackey promised to collaborate with the command in its work to protect lives and property in the Region.

She urged the command to continue in their good work to protect Mother Ghana.

The Director of Administration, DCFO Fanny Simpson thanked the immediate past Commander for the good work during his tenure in office. She called on the incoming Commander to continue the good work of the Regional Commander.

In his last statement to the Command, DCFO Richard Gibril Nuhu said what matters in the service is what you live behind.

He called on the officers to continue to be disciplined and make the impossible possible.

DCFO Nuhu promised to make himself available when the service needs him. DCFO, Nuhu called on GNFS to acquire boats and helicopters to help in rescue missions.

He also called for the harvest of water to help in firefighting rather than always relying on Ghana water. DCFO Richard Gibril Nuhu served the Ghana National Fire Service for 33 years.
