Story by: Mabel Adorkor Annang

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), has presented some medical consumables to two hospitals in the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions.

The presentation was to commemorate the Commission’s silver jubilee celebrations and emphasise its corporate social responsibility.

The Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital in the Akuapim-Mampong Municipality and the Shai Osudoku District Hospital, at Dodowa received nebulizer machines, drip stands, face masks, hand gloves, toiletries, and a flat-screen TV.

Presenting the items to the hospital at a separate ceremony, the Legal Director of PURC, Mrs Nancy Atiemo, said the gesture is the Commission’s way of giving back to society.

So far we are concentrating on corporate social responsibilities. You know, the commission’s mandate is to protect the interests of utility companies and consumers. And we feel that focusing on CSR at this time is to really show the consumer side of what we do.”

Head of Administration and Support Services at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Mr. Maxwell Larbi commended PURC for the kind gesture.

“We’ve received a whole lot of consumables from PURC. They promised to donate such items and we have been expecting them. And God being so good, today they have fulfilled that promise.”

Director at the Shai Osudoku District Hospital, Dr. Kennedy Brightson also commended the PURC, saying that “Well, first of all, I must express my sincerest heartfelt gratitude to the PURC for remembering us and seeing us on the occasion of their 25th anniversary”.

The 25th-anniversary celebration will be climaxed in October this year.
