The Kantamanto market in Accra is to be re-developed into a modern shopping center. Work will commence on the new market in March next year and completed within a year.
Chief Executive Officer of Golden Coast Developers Neil Oku, who disclosed this said the new Market will be named Kantamanto Shopping Complex.
This comes after fire-ravaged parts of the market last week, destroying property worth thousands of cedis. Mr.Oku said the traders will be temporarily relocated when construction starts.
The traders had earlier rejected government’s offer to temporarily relocate them to the car park of the Accra Railway Station. They claim they might not be allowed back after the relocation.
