President Akufo-Addo has appealed to Traders and Transport Operators to reduce the prices of goods and transport fares to reflect the recent appreciation of the cedis against the major foreign currencies. This he said is not only a fair request but just one that will help Ghanaians enjoy a very pleasant Christmas.

Speaking at the Centenary celebration of the Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, President Akufo-Addo said his government will bring further relief and return the economy on the path of high growth and prosperity.

He appealed to Ghanaians to bare with Government in the period of these difficulties and assured better days ahead.

The Ga Presbytery traces its origin to the Ga-Adangme Presbytery. By a Synod resolution in 1971, the Ga-Adangme Presbytery was split into two namely, the Ga Presbytery and Dangme-Tongu Presbytery, to facilitate evangelism and ensure more efficient administration.

The Ga-Adangme Presbytery had existed for fifty years, being one of the original five Presbyteries created by Synod in 1922. The Centenary celebration was used to thank and praise God for his blessings bestowed on the church.

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt Rev Professor, Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, praised the government for restoring stability and asked Ghanaians to continue to have faith in the government.

President Akufo-Addo outlined some of the measures put in place by the government to restore stability.

He however warned that Ghana is not out of the woods yet.

The President added his voice to calls for traders to reduce prices of goods and services to reflect the current appreciation of the Cedi.

President Akufo-Addo made a personal donation of 100,000 Ghana Cedis to the Ga Presbytery to help built an ultra-modern hospital to take care of cancer and other diseases.
