Regional Maritime University students experience first-hand power management at GRIDCo 

RMU students at GRIDCo Systems

Thirty-three (33) students from the Regional Maritime University (RMU) toured some of GRIDCo’s transmission facilities and Substations as part of the University’s scheduled interactions with industries.

Mr. Morrison Vehe, a Lecturer, led the group of levels 200, 300 and final year Engineering Diploma Students.

The Director of System Operations at GRIDCo, Ing. Frank Asirifi Otchere, met the Students on arrival, charging them to seize the opportunity to match classroom experiences with practical knowledge.

“GRIDCo is committed to establishing good relationships between industry and academia”, he added.

At the System Control Centre, Manager, Dispatch Mr. Stephen Debrah presented an overview of the National Power System; the Electricity Market; Transmission Planning; Load Deficits, the SCADA System, and aspects of Transmission Models.

The students departed edified after they had experienced the practical aspects of most lessons they found challenging.
