Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability, ASEPA and the Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold, Gold coast Securities and collapsed Saving and Loans Companies have in a joint petition prayed the Speaker and Chairman of the Appointment Committee of Parliament to reject Ken Ofori Atta as Minister of Finance.

Executive Director of ASEPA, Mensah Thompson at a news conference in Accra alleged that Mr. Ofori Atta as former Finance Minister acted in ways that contravened most financial acts and the code of conduct for public officers.

He noted that his role in the collapse of banks, the Agyapa Royalties Deal, the establishment of Consolidated Bank Ghana among others are reasons why Mr. Ofori Atta should not be given the nod to continue as Finance Minister.

Mr. Thompson appealed to members of the Appointment Committee as well as all MPs to work in the interest of the nation.
