The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, says government is making arrangements to receive the remains of former Black Stars player, Christian Atsu.

In a statement, the Ministry said his remains will be accompanied by his family and Ghana’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Francisca Ashietey Oduntun, on a Turkish airline flight.

The Turkish Airline with the body will depart from Istanbul late afternoon today and is expected to arrive in Ghana at 7pm.

The remains will be received at the Kotoka International Airport by the family, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and the Government upon its arrival from Istanbul, Türkiye.

The statement while commiserating with the bereaved family and Ghanaians, prays for the eternal repose of the soul of Christian Atsu.

Atsu’s body was recovered from the rubble of his apartment, following the earthquake which struck Türkiye on the 6th of this month.

This comes after almost 12 days of tortuous search by a rescue team.

The world has since been paying glowing tribute to him, for his dexterity and skills on the field of play and his benevolence.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo, has on behalf of the government and people of Ghana paid glowing tribute to Christian Atsu.

In a Facebook post, President Akufo-Addo said Ghana football has lost one of its finest personnel and ambassadors, one who will be difficult to replace.

He said the player would be sorely missed and prayed for Atsu’s soul to be reposed. President Akufo-Addo also extended his heartfelt condolences to the widow, children and family of the late footballer.
