Residents of Mafiakrom in the Dormaa Central Municipal cry over poor road

Farmers and Commuters who ply the Mafiakrom-Dormaa Asikasu No_2 road in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region are calling on the government to as a matter of urgency go to their aid in getting the deplorable road constructed.

According to them, in an interview with Radio Ghana, the road has deteriorated to a point where, school children and farmers finds it difficult to ply that stretch, especially when it rains. This makes it difficult to transport food stuffs or attend school amidst other challenges.

 

Mafiakrom is a Farming Community in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono region.

The indigenes are mostly farmers who produce, Cocoa, Coffee, Cashew, Maize, Plantain and Cassava among others.

Thanks to the current rains the main road link to the Community is in a very bad shape making life difficult for farmers, school children and drivers who ply that muddy and roughy road regularly.

The road is also a means for farmers from, Asikasu No 1, Asikasu No 2, Nsuhia, Kokorasua, Maasu, Aboabo No 3, Ahyiresu, and Aboabo No 4 among others to access markets in Dormaa Ahenkro and beyond.

Some farmers and commuters who spoke to Radio Ghana describe it as a nightmare. They said, the bad nature of the road makes it difficult to transport their food stuffs or attend school amidst other challenges when it rains.

Some also said illegal loggers are worsening the situation as they ply the road with their heavy trucks.

According to them, they are sometimes been threating by the illegal loggers.  

They are now calling on government as matter of agency go to their aid in getting the road constructed and also stop chainsaw operators from decimating in the area.
