Secretary-General of the National Tenants Union, Frederick Opoku, has called for the introduction of a new Social Housing Policy, for the very poor and vulnerable in society.
He was unhappy the much-touted affordable housing has become a mirage.
Speaking on GBC’s Uniiq Breakfast Drive, Mr. Opoku noted the current rent law has outlived its usefulness and calls for a review.
A Rent Officer, Rent Control Department, Emmanuel Oposu, acknowledged challenges in the implementation of the six months rent advance.
He said achieving objectives of the law is a shared responsibility and asked both tenants and landlords to resort to its offices for redress of issues.
Mr. Oposu was upbeat about a soon to be introduced rent law which he said will bring respite to both parties.
