About two thousand employees of the 15 Savings and Loans Companies whose licenses were revoked by the Bank of Ghana are expected to lose their jobs.
Executive Secretary of the Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies (GHASALC), Tweneboah Kodua Boakye in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, said the figure was arrived at from the database the Association has on its members whose licenses were revoked.
He was however quick to add that the 24 remaining savings and loans companies that were not affected by the Bank of Ghana’s action must be supported to succeed.
Mr Boakye said going forward the Association will continue to build the capacity of it’s members to comply with regulations of the Central Bank.
