A Road Engineer, Vuuri Sampson, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Adentan Circuit Court, for dishonestly appropriating about GH₵30, 000.

He was convicted on his own plea of guilty with explanation, but the Judge, Sedinam Awo Balokah, refused to accept his explanation.

The complainant, Benjamin Otoo, is a civil servant and a resident of Madina in Accra.

The prosecution said in November last year the complainant contracted the accused person to do patching and sealing work of about seven hundred metres of road at Nsawam.

The accused person charged GH₵36,000 for materials and GH₵12,000 for Workmanship which the complainant paid.

The accused person after working for some time went back to the complainant that he needed extra money for materials.

He then gave him about GH₵25,000 for him to buy the said items to complete the work. The accused person after collecting the money changed his phone number and went into hiding and all efforts made to locate him proved futile.

The case was reported and the accused person was arrested and he admitted collecting the amount.
