Roads Minister inspects ongoing projects in Tema

Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Atta, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on some roads being constructed in Tema and parts of Accra.

The roads include the Tema roundabout interchange which is 91% complete and will be opened in June this year.

Mr Amoako-Atta said government is committed to developing the road infrastructure in the country. He, therefore, charged contractors on-site to speed up work to meet the deadline.

Mr. Amoako-Atta inspected construction works on the Tema roundabout interchange, Teshie Link road, Pokuase interchange, Rehabilitation of Ofankor-Nsawam section of the N6, and the dualisation of the Kwafokrom–Apedwa section on the Accra to Kumasi highway.

He expressed satisfaction on the progress of work at the Tema roundabout and the Pokuase interchange.

At the Teshie Link road, which is a dual carriage road, gutters were still under construction. The minister was not satisfied with the progress of work, but the contractor assured him that the first phase of the work will be done in the next four weeks.

The Project Manager of Shimizu-Dal Nippon JV, Yujin Uemura, was optimistic that the Tema roundabout interchange which is 91% complete would be completed within the stipulated time.

Mr. Amoako-Atta promised that government will release more funds to contractors to speed up all road projects in the country, adding that 2020 is indeed the year of roads, as promised.
