Traditional and opinion leaders in Salman in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region have called on the public to disregard what they describe as false and misleading information being circulated about the operations of Adamus Mining Company.
In a statement issued through the Chief of Salman, Nana Kwamena Bentum II, the signatories alleged that the misinformation is being spread by individuals believed to be hired illegal miners, popularly known as galamsey operators, with the intention of misleading the public, creating unnecessary tension, and undermining the company’s lawful operations and its relationship with host communities.
The statement stressed that Adamus Mining Company operates within the laws of Ghana and continues to engage stakeholders through community consultation and development initiatives. It added that the company remains committed to responsible mining practices, environmental stewardship, and peaceful coexistence with communities in its operational area.
The leaders urged traditional authorities, community members, the media, and the general public to disregard unverified claims and rely only on information from official sources. They also appealed to state security agencies to investigate individuals allegedly spreading misinformation and promoting illegal mining activities, arguing that such actions threaten peace, public safety, and the rule of law.
Reaffirming their commitment to truth, transparency, and constructive engagement, the signatories said they remain focused on supporting the sustainable development of the Salman area.
The statement was signed by Justice Kwadu Amuzu, Rth. Jonas Kabutey (C.A.G.), Francis Whajah, Andrews Kofi Assuah, Hon. Banabas Ewereko, Hon. Francis Kwao Mensah, and Beatrice Amihere, and was issued through Nana Kwamena Bentum II, Chief of Salman.
