Sanitation Ministry presents vehicles to three institutions

The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources has presented vehicles to three institutions to support their efforts in improving sanitation in the country.

24 mechanised tricycles were presented for waste collection to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) within the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA), three pickup trucks to  the Ministry of the Interior and two water tankers to the Community Water and Sanitation Agency .

The tricycles, is funded by government and the African Development Bank at a cost of 1.2 million cedis under the Greater Accra Sustainable Sanitation Development Project.

The two water tankers, on the other hand was funded by the World Bank at a cost of $110 thousand and are aimed at enhancing the efforts of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency to improve water delivery in rural communities.

The Ministry of the Interior on the other hand took delivery of three pickup trucks on behalf the Ghana Police Service.

The pickup trucks are to help the police to support MMDAs in enforcing sanitation by-laws.

At the presentation ceremonies in Accra, Sanitation Minister Ms Cecilia Dapaah said the donations are part of government’s effort to improve sanitation in the country and also to support the assemblies to enforce sanitation by-laws.
