A Security Expert, Adib Saani, has called for the resignation of the National Security Minister for failing to permanently neutralize the threats posed by the Western Togoland Group.

He said the National Security Minister is to be blamed for Friday, September 25, chaos in parts of the Volta Region, which has resulted in the capture and assault of three police officers.

Mr. Saani told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that the time is ripped for the Minister to give way for a more proactive person.

The National Security Minister is a post to coordinate the activities of the various intelligence agencies in the country, and largely what is happening is got to do with what he is supposed to be doing or his responsibility and that is intelligence gathering. We have seen the warning signs which didn’t require a rocket scientist to tell.”

“It was hitting us in the face, right before our noses. Mostly we arrest them, release them then rearrest only to re-release them again, and it’s all as a result of the gross incompetence of the National Security Minister.”
