President John Dramani Mahama has urged senior citizens to take full advantage of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, to help address age-related health challenges, particularly non-communicable diseases.
He said the initiative forms part of government’s broader commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and social protection systems to ensure that older persons live with dignity, security and peace of mind.
President Mahama stressed that every society is judged by how it treats its elderly, adding that senior citizens deserve dignity, accessible and affordable healthcare, social protection, and respect.
He noted that the establishment of MahamaCares is aimed at providing targeted support for the treatment of chronic illnesses and other health conditions associated with ageing.
The President encouraged senior citizens to actively enrol and benefit from the fund to help manage any health challenges they may be facing, reaffirming government’s resolve to improve quality of life for the elderly.
