Local Unions and Chapters of the University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG are holding a series of meetings with members this week to decide on the legal implications of its ongoing strike which has been described as illegal by the National Labour Commission. UTAG on Thursday met with the government to discuss its conditions of service for which it declared a nationwide strike.
National Secretary of UTAG, Dr. Asare Asante-Annor told Nathaniel Nartey that the Association was unable to reach an amicable settlement with the government during the meeting after the strike was declared UNLAWFUL.
He said UTAG will respond to the development as early as possible, before the next meeting with the government on February 16, 2022.
”Some campuses met on Friday and others are meeting today so we are hoping that as early as possible they will all finish their meetings and then we will collate all the information from them then we communicate appropriately.”
He said “All the University teachers are doing their normal work, nothing has changed that much but, they are meeting so after the meeting then we know the next order of action.”
