Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Shadrach Azangweo, deputy of the Human Resource Department at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), has been recognised for his contributions to community development and sustainable agriculture.
ACI Azangweo was recently awarded the Community Impact Award of the Year by Advocate for Fair Legal Access and Consult, Ghana (AFLAG) during the Third Edition of AFLAG’s Philanthropic Awards and Charity Night on November 15, 2025, at the Marriott Hotel in Accra.

The award highlights his efforts in promoting agriculture among young Ghanaians. He has established agricultural clubs in schools, including Methodist Girls’ Secondary School, Okuapeman Secondary School, and Mount Sinai Secondary School, nurturing the next generation of agripreneurs.
ACI Azangweo’s work through AppleJack Farms has also contributed to local food production, supported second-cycle schools, and advanced initiatives in food security, environmental conservation, and agribusiness. His efforts were formally acknowledged during the 40th National Farmer’s Day celebrations, organized by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), when Methodist Girls’ Senior High School received the Best School Award for its farm initiatives under his guidance.

His achievements in agriculture build on a history of recognition. ACI Azangweo was named the 2014 Best Meat Processor and the 2023 Overall Best Farmer in the Ga Central Municipality, reflecting his long-standing commitment to sustainable farming.
In his acceptance speech, ACI Azangweo encouraged Ghanaians to transform their immediate surroundings into gardens, growing their own food to promote healthy eating and strengthen food sovereignty.

He also acknowledged the support of the Comptroller-General of GIS, Samuel Basintale Amadu, and GIS management for backing his initiatives.
