Spokesperson for Ghana’s Chief Imam, Sheikh Shaibu Aremeyaw, has heaped praise on the Management and Board of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for honouring one of Ghana’s forebearers in Sports Commentary and Presentation, Mr. Joe Lartey.

The Arts Legendary Wall of Fame Honours, founded by The Pan African Art Ambassador Prince Kojo-Hilton in collaboration with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation on January 9, 2023, on the GTV Breakfast Show, honoured the legendary Sports Journalist, Mr. Joe Lartey with a state-of-the-art painting for his contribution to Journalism across the Continent and the globe at large.

This gesture has generated lots of thumbs up from Ghanaians and sports lovers across the world, and Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu has added his voice to that.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, the mouthpiece of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw, said the action of honouring the Veteran Journalist and Statesman really brought gladness to his heart and made him happy while he watched at home. He added that the gesture portrays the values taught by every Ghanaian parent and religious fraternity to respect and honour elderly people in our community.

“You gladdened my heart when I watched you honour this great elderly man, Joe Lartey. My father taught me to be respectful of the elderly. He taught me to do so. It gladdens my heart anytime I see an elderly person given the honour and respect especially for leading such a fruitful and productive life like Joe Lartey,” he said.

Sheikh Aremeyaw also shared fond memories of his childhood days when he used to listen to the legendary Joe Lartey during his Sports Commentary Sessions on Radio Ghana, a subsidiary of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
