Shop owners near the Mile 7 Roundabout in Accra are appealing to the Ga East Municipal Assembly to collect the debris left behind after a truck skidded off the highway and landed on the side street on Sunday night.

They complain about the stench, emanating from the rotten mangoes and mango peel, which they say, is driving away their customers.

GBC News’ team came across a heap of rotten mangoes and mango peel littered across the side streets and pavements near the Mile 7 roundabout.

A shop owner whose shop is right behind the pavement narrates that after Sunday’s downpour in that part of Accra, a portion of the highway got flooded.

Attempting to navigate on that stretch, two vehicles, a saloon car and a truck load of mango and mango peel skidded off the road and landed on the side street.

The shop owners are appealing to the Ga East Municipal Assembly to as matter of urgency ensure that the debris is collected as it is affecting their business.
