Shops and markets lockdown for disinfection at Suhum

As part of measures to fight the spread of the coronavirus in the Eastern Region, a disinfection exercise took place in all the markets in the Suhum Municipality.
The markets that were disinfected included markets in the Suhum township, Nankese, and Akroabo.

The exercise was conducted under the supervision of the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) Mrs Margret Darko Darkwa with the participation of volunteers, personnel of the Ghana Police Service, Staff of the National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO), the staff of the Immigration Service, the Municipal Health Directorate and staff of Zoomlion.

Mrs Darkwa applauded the market women and men for adhering to the directives for the closure of the markets, which made the exercise successful.

She advised the public to wash their hands under running water and use sanitizers regularly for the Municipality to record zero cases of COVID-19.

Mrs Darkwa praised the Market Management Committee for their dedication and the education they gave to the market women and men, even though it was an emergency call.
The Municipal Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr George Arthur, expressed his appreciation for the unity and corporation exhibited by the Suhum community, which made the excise successful.

He said a healthy nation was a wealthy nation and urged all to help fight the pandemic and stay home to be safe.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Esther Quaye Sowah, advised parents to keep an eye on their wards and encourage them to stick to their books during this COVID-19 break in the education sector.

She urged parents to assist their children to learn both soft and hard copies of their lectures to help them catch up when school resumed.
